So, this page is under update - after I started using Home Assistant in 2019 after a short encounter with openHAB. Home Assistant is python/yaml based and quite nerdy to setup - althhough the improvements over 6 years of usage has been enourmous - its still not for everyone; look at Homey for a simpler solution.
Since the simple start with a few devices and a lot og yaml file editing, todays intallation is 80% home covering and muost is done bu GUI; the latter being thanks to Nabu Casa.
I started Home Assistant on a native version, and the Python version aspect was tiredsome always !! Today I am not (on purpose) on HAOS, but on a Docker instance with HA Core. I like the full control over all dockers and not a solution where i am partly blinded.
